"Alliance Mapping" in World War I

In one of the more recent activities in Modern World History class, students mapped out the web of alliances behind World War I with yarn. It was absolute chaos! This was the point: for kids to materially understand how the alliances interfered with each other and brought countries into a war they didn't care about to defend their allies.
