On Saturday, March 16th, the Upper School gym was filled with over 200 students and their families who came together to celebrate the many different cultures we have at Bentley. There was food, crafts, music, and, above all else, FUN!
Thank you to all who brought delicious food and volunteered their time to make the day a special experience for our students and families. A special thank you to event co-chairs Robin Latour and Mandeep Ahluwalia for their vision and tireless efforts in making this important event happen and to Megan Kelly, who made the craft tables spectacular. We can’t wait until next year’s celebration!

This past weekend, the Bentley Choir, Chorus, Jazz, and Chamber students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Disneyland! Our talented musicians performed on Disneyland’s Imagination Campus at California Adventure and participated in Soundtrack Sessions, where students contributed their own renditions of beloved Disney films. This was a wonderful opportunity for Bentley students to share their musical talents with a broader audience and get a firsthand experience of what it is like to be a professional studio musician.
In addition to performing, students (along with our wonderful US teachers/chaperones Mr. Brown, Mr. McWilliams, Ms. Espineli, Mr. Kallaby, and Ms. Brookshire) were able to enjoy two days at Disneyland and California Adventure, creating lasting memories together.
Please join us to celebrate all the hard work of these musicians at our Spring Concerts on May 9 (Choirs and Chamber) and May 11 as we end the year on a high note!
Last Friday, Mr. Winbush’s 6th grade Performing Arts class from Trimester 2 hosted a special assembly to showcase newfound skills. From playing improvisational games to running through skits with audience-directed themes, the cast did a great job keeping us on our toes and laughing throughout.
Getting up on stage in front of the entire school is not easy, but congratulations to all the class members for flexing their bravery muscles!
8th grade advisories have been considering the importance of service through the lens of kindness. As part of a challenge posed by Mr. Scott, each advisory group was asked to brainstorm and create a project that would promote kindness in Bentley’s community. Students came up with their own ideas, presented them to the group, and then voted for the class project. The Schugar Bears, aka Schug/Korican Advisory, decided to read books with students in Kindergarten as part of their challenge.
Here is how Assistant Director of Lower School Lindsey Sykes reflected on the event:
“On Tuesday, we gathered in the library and at the Blue Lake, where Middle School students graciously shared picture storybooks with our youngest learners. Events like these foster mentorship among our students, enabling older students to expand their leadership abilities while guiding and supporting their younger peers in their reading journey, exemplifying healthy reading habits. Undoubtedly, this interaction boosted the confidence of our kindergarten students, who were thrilled to engage with older peers. The atmosphere was filled with smiles throughout this midday activity. We eagerly await the next opportunity to continue our inclusive learning environment at Bentley, where students can thrive, both academically and socially.”
