BENTLEY THEATRE PRESENTS: INTO THE WOODS
Bentley School presents: Into the Woods, Jr., with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine. A childless baker and his wife, two innocent youths, and a neglected orphan enter a mysterious, dark forest in pursuit of their dreams. Along the way, they encounter a multitude of colorful characters, including a witch, a wolf, a giant, and a pair of princes. Based on popular Grimm’s fairy tales, the journey proves both fantastic and challenging, leaving those who survive “the woods” to confront life’s dearest lessons. Adapted from Sondheim’s classic, Tony-award winning 1986 musical, this is a new, intimate staging at the Lesher Center’s Vukasin auditorium! Directed by GG Grilli, with musical direction by Paul McWilliams and choreography by Sarah Pon, this is the second production of Bentley Theatre’s “Hearts in Darkness” 2024–25 season. All performances at the Lesher Center in Walnut Creek: Friday 2/7 at 7:15 p.m.; Saturday 2/8 at 2:15 p.m. & 7:15 p.m.; and Sunday 2/9 at 2:15 p.m.. Running time: 2 hours, 45 minutes with one intermission. Buy your tickets now! ($15 for adults / $12 for students and seniors.)
