Tents, Kayaks, and Slugs, Oh My!

Last week, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders went on fantastic outdoor education trips! For some, it felt like a brand new experience, away from home, sleeping in a tent for the first time, and for others, it felt like a final celebration of all things Middle School. 

 

The 6th grade traveled to Pescadero, where they camped in the Costanoa KOA. From sharing tents with friends to stargazing to exploring the beach each day, all students enjoyed this experience. More highlights included birthday party campfires, spotting various wild and domesticated animals, skits, and camp kitchen meals!

7th grade traveled to Caspar, just north of Mendocino, where they camped in the slightly more remote setting of Jug Handle Creek Farm. For many 7th graders, tents were a new and exciting part of the outdoor education experience. By all accounts, there was a lot of quality bonding time on this trip as students prepared to be the leaders on campus next year. There were many smiles and Banana Slugs spotted along the magical coastline trails.

The 8th grade spent the day on campus Wednesday, soaking up a few moments without grades 5, 6, and 7 on campus. They took time to celebrate "kindness" and reflected on where they have been in their journey through their Bentley experience and where they will go in the months ahead. A yummy lunch from Chipotle was enjoyed by all! On Thursday, students took their final trip as a class over to Marin County, where they kayaked in the Bay. Later, they pitched tents in China Camp and spent lots of time hanging out together around the campfire. While this was a quick overnight trip, there were surely many memorable moments as they finished out these last few days together as Middle Schoolers.
