2nd Grade Garden Class Highlights: Exploring Water and Watersheds
Our 2nd grade scientists embarked on an exciting journey in their garden class, initiating a new unit centered around water and watersheds.
Our 2nd grade scientists embarked on an exciting journey in their garden class, initiating a new unit centered around water and watersheds. Their first few sessions involved a refreshing review of hydrology concepts. Students actively engaged in creating detailed diagrams in their science notebooks, illustrating the three main phases of the water cycle: evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.
To deepen their understanding, the young scientists took to the campus for a hike, identifying areas where water gathers and observing its movement. After witnessing how water navigates through our local environment, they expressed their newfound knowledge artistically. Using watercolors and rainwater collected from last night's rainfall, the students added vibrant hues to their diagrams, creating a colorful representation of their exploration.
