5th Grade's Journey Through Research and Creativity

In 5th grade Art class with Ms. Korican, students explore various fine artists, both historical and contemporary, selecting one that interests them the most. After thoroughly researching and evaluating multiple sources, students recreate one of their chosen artist's works, adhering to the artist's medium and style.

In their core classes, students engage in an extensive drafting and revision process to create research essays. These essays delve into the family background, early years, influences, and analysis of their chosen artists' work. This process helps them enhance their skills in source evaluation, expository writing, synthesizing information, and paraphrasing, utilizing detailed outlines, guiding questions, and rubrics.

5th graders enthusiastically presented everything they learned during the “Artist Salon” celebration this week. Dressed as their chosen painters, sculptors, illustrators, muralists, and more, they shared their insights with their peers and fellow artists during Art class.
