Students in the "Incarceration Nation" Seminar Class Meet With Author

In a recent highlight of our "Incarceration Nation"  honors history seminar, students had the opportunity to interact with Dr. Jason A. Higgins, author of one of the seminar readings, "Prisoners After War: Veterans in the Age of Mass Incarceration," via Zoom. Dr. Higgins, an assistant professor at Virginia Tech, offered deep insights into the themes of his book, published by the University of Massachusetts Press. This interactive session not only enriched students' understanding of the complex issue of mass incarceration and its effects on veterans but also allowed them to get a "behind-the-scenes" look at how academic scholarship is produced.
