Exciting Week of Learning Unfolds at the Hiller Campus During Mini-term

This week, the Hiller campus was filled with excitement and exploration as students delved into various engaging activities during Mini-term. From kindergarteners to fifth graders, each grade level embraced unique projects that ignited their curiosity and creativity.

Kindergarten: Fostering Curiosity and Teamwork with Foundational STEAM Skills
Kindergarten students embarked on a journey of discovery, immersing themselves in foundational STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) skills. Through collaborative efforts, they explored their innate curiosity and worked together to lay the groundwork for future academic pursuits.

First Grade: Bringing Fantastical Creatures to Life
First graders put their knowledge of habitats and animal adaptations to the test as they embarked on an imaginative adventure. From designing habitats to crafting plush toys of their fantasy animals, students unleashed their creativity and storytelling prowess, resulting in captivating tales of their creations.

Second Grade: Diving Deep into Dragonology
Second graders were whisked away into the enchanting world of Dragonology. Exploring mythical creatures from various cultures, students delved into the elements of the fantasy genre, crafting their imaginative dragons and weaving captivating stories to accompany their creations.

Third Grade: Engineering Marvels with Rube Goldberg Machines
Third-grade students embraced the challenge of creating their own Rube Goldberg machines. As they learned about the renowned inventor and cartoonist Rube Goldberg, students engaged in the engineering design process, pushing the boundaries of innovation and problem-solving.

Fourth Grade: Setting the Stage for Future Projects
Fourth-grade students embarked on a project that will serve as a springboard for upcoming endeavors. Throughout Mini-term, students gained experience researching famous inventors, laying the groundwork for the Biography Headstone Reading Project. Additionally, they created prototypes of inventions, providing valuable support for their future participation in the Invention Convention.

Fifth Grade: Exploring Solar Radiation Studies with Environmental Awareness
In fifth grade, students applied their knowledge of solar radiation studies to real-world scenarios. Focusing on environmental awareness and Earth Day connections, students delved into scientific methods and the engineering design process, making cross-curricular connections that enriched their learning experiences.

Throughout the week, students across all grade levels embraced hands-on learning opportunities that fostered critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. As Mini-term drew to a close, the Hiller campus buzzed with the excitement of discoveries and accomplishments, setting the stage for future academic adventures.
