4th and 5th Graders Participate in "Battle of the Books"

Over the past three months, 98 4th and 5th graders from various Oakland Elementary schools immersed themselves in three shared novels: Across the Desert by Dusti Bowling, We're Not From Here by Geoff Rodkey, and A Game of Fox & Squirrels by Jenn Reese. Their literary journey culminated at Bella Vista Elementary School on Thursday, April 18, where 34 Bentley students participated in the inaugural Oakland Elementary School “Battle of the Books.” Competing against students from six other elementary schools in Oakland, they engaged in a thrilling trivia-based literary showdown. 

Amidst the spirited atmosphere, students celebrated their love for reading alongside their peers from across the East Bay. At the end of the competition, participants were rewarded with participation certificates, complimentary giveaway books, delectable cupcakes, and cherished memories to last a lifetime!
