There's Nothing Average About Our English Teachers
The rare, but certainly not endangered, Bentley Upper School English Teacher is hardly ever found behind a desk.
Here is a description of each known Bentley Upper School English Teacher:
Jessie Ewald
Ms. Ewald teaches LGBTQIA+ Literature, Existentialism, and Creative Nonfiction. She spends much of her free time reading contemporary fiction and taking her dog on outdoor adventures.
Richard Gabri
Dr. Gabri is a Persian Armenian residing within and between the interstices of different languages, cultures, and traditions. He loves teaching poetic and dramatic texts.
Kelly Shi
Ms. Shi is teaching Existentialism and From Page to Screen: Alfred Hitchcock. She plans to wear a lot of black this year.
Sally Simpson
Ms. Simpson is a medievalist currently teaching Vampire Literature; she is passionately committed to the edification of youth on the ideological excrescence of the bloodthirsty undead.
Emma Sterling
Part Latin teacher, part English teacher, Ms. Sterling is delighted to be teaching Feminist Fantasy and Adaptation Theory.
John Walker
Dr. Walker’s seminars this year are Social Speculative Fiction and Songs of Blood and Iron, hence his students will be dazzled by texts from the remote ruins of ancient Greece to the A.I. cyborgs of the dystopian future.
