If your student can read that headline better than you can, the World Languages Department must be doing something right!
“Do you know about Picasso’s Blue Period?” (The Headline in English)
It might be surprising that students in the Advanced French Seminar study Pablo Picasso, but Picasso lived most of his life in France. Bentley faculty teach in language in ways that immerse students in a language, historical time, or notable period in the arts. And Picasso was just that immersive ticket to France.
Students are studying what is known now as his "Blue Period," a time in Picasso’s life that was full of emotional and financial turmoil for him, which he chose to express in a specific color palette. And he was just a few years older than our seminar students.
Each student selected and studied a specific painting, focusing their presentations on specific, in-depth elements, such as his use of light, space, and color.
